5 Game Week

The San Jose State win last night gave me that coveted entry into Saturday game day with an already winning record. The only problem: I only have 4 more. That’s nice, I guess, when you consider that all it would take today is (2-2) to secure another winning week, but brutal regarding everything from sample size to overcoming my brutal start and to the realization that the season is officially winding down. But it’s not sputtering out, quite the opposite, actually. The system this season took it’s Covid pounding, but the last 6 weeks offered a turnaround that first gave me 2 (.500) weeks, and then (5-2), (9-5), (5-7), (7-2). I’d tell you that the losing week was an anomaly, but it’s not. This is what the system feels like in normal times. There are losing weeks that leave me dreaming of all the great Saturday activities out there, all the things I miss out on when I’m glued to college kids standing around waiting for a targeting call to get settled or just the right camera angle to determine whether a knee hit the ground. But then the next week it wins, and when this happens it wins by more than the loser it took the week before. This is what the system feels like, and if you bet every pick it tells you to over a 5 year period, you’ll make a lot of money and have a lot of fun Saturdays.

I’m still planning that post on the second scale, probably next week, but for now, here are this week’s picks:

Friday

San Jose State pickem on a neutral field vs Nevada

Saturday

Ball State -2 at home vs Western Michigan

Rice +7 at home vs UAB

Tennessee -16 on the road vs Vanderbilt

Virginia +3 on the road vs Virginia Tech
